The Scattering is a historical event mentioned multiple times in the speculative sci-fi book 'Heretics of Dune' (from the Dune series).
 
I started painting this piece while I was reading the book. It shows Letos Golden Path, his gift/curse of prescience, and the fleeing ('scattering') of hordes of refugees into the dark unknown, unmapped parts of the universe.
